Chair's Nightout Highlights for May 2006

Chair’s Recap of Past Year

Mavonne Prokop, Section Chair, reviewed the highlights of the past year. She covered some of the achievements of the past year and some of the experiences she had during that time. We have laid the groundwork for a new Communication Committee which she will chair next year. She shared some of the insights she received at Leadership Training in Milwaukee. Mavonne thanked many of the people who guided and assisted her during the year, a year she had expected to serve as Chair-Elect but ended up serving as the Chair, succeeding Dick Alberg upon his sudden passing.

After her recap of the year, Mavonne had the honor to introduce several past chairs in attendance. These were Laurie Quam (’65), Frank Wells (’80), Burt Thulin (’86), Ralph Arnott (’89 and ’96), Bob Meyer (’91), Bob Johnson (’93), Connie McLinn (’94), and Marilyn Pehl (’97 and ’03). It was great to see these old friends again.

Mavonne next passed the gave to incoming Chair, Connie McLinn who is preparing to serve her second term as Section Chair.

Mavonne next had the honor to present the Chair’s Award to Anne Aichinger in recognition for he many years service to the section as its Office Administrator, voice on the phone, resource for all committees and members, face at the program registration table and countless other duties for over fifteen years. To many members, Anne is the first call for help and this award is well earned. Thanks, Anne.

Connie took over the podium to present Mavonne with a recognition plaque for her service as Chair for this last year.

Finally, Program Vice-Chair Gary Jing presented recognition certificates to members who attended seven or more programs during the past year.
